Signs that your glasses need an adjustment
- They slide down your nose, or slip when you bend forward or run.
- They pinch your nose, or dig into the sides of your head or behind your ears.
- They leave red marks.
- They look crooked or tilted, or they rest unevenly on a flat surface.
- They feel too loose or too tight.
What an adjustment does
A well-fitted pair of glasses sits level on your face, with the centre of each lens in front of the centre of your eye and the arms resting comfortably over your ears. If you wear bifocals or multifocals, this is also what puts the zones of the lens in the right place for each distance. We straighten the arms, set the nose pads, shape the ends of the arms to your ears, and tighten the tiny screws, then check how the glasses sit on your face.
Please do not adjust them yourself
Many frames need heat to be shaped, and plastic can snap even when it is warm. Lenses can also chip easily. Bring your glasses in instead: it takes a few minutes, it costs nothing, and we will clean them for you at the same time.
