A visual screening is a short check that tells you whether you need a full eye test. It's free, and there's no obligation. Pop into your nearest Torga Optical, with no appointment needed, or find us at a school, workplace or community event.
What we check
What happens at a screening
The services provided in a visual screening are determined by the optometrist in the practice, with reference to guidelines. Your visual screening may include some or all of the following:
A few questions
About your eyes, your health and your vision.
How well you see
Far away and close up, with and without your glasses if you wear them.
Your pupils
How your pupils react to light.
Your field of vision
How much you see to the sides while you look ahead.
Your eyes
The front and the inside of your eyes.
Eye pressure
The pressure in your eyes.
Before we start, we explain what the screening is for and ask for your consent.

What a screening isn't
No diagnosis and no prescription
A screening isn't an eye test. It doesn't give you a diagnosis or a prescription. If it shows that you need a full eye test, you get a referral note to take to the optometrist of your choice.
